Ten years of business in McIntosh County was celebrated at Lilliston Ford in December 2010. The president of the business and majority owner, Jedon Marie Lilliston, opened the company in 2000 with the purchase of Jack Nelson Ford in Darien, later adding the Kingsland location in 2007. In 2005, the Darien dealership relocated from Highway 17/ North Way to the current location near I-95 exit 49, which made it easier for customers in the Georgia Lowcountry to visit and shop them. With twenty-two employees, Lilliston Ford (Darien) is one of the largest employers in the county.
Meet Jedon Marie Lilliston, dealer principal at Lilliston. Lilliston’s commitment to the Darien/McIntosh community has included her support to several charitable activities, including events, such as Relay for Life, Toys for Tots and Blessing of the Fleet, to name a few. She raised two Eagle scouts, a Girl Scout and has a Star scout on the way up. She believes in supporting her community in actions and words.
Additionally, Lilliston Ford continuously supports the local school system through the purchase of equipment for McIntosh County Academy by donating a vehicle for the school’s Drivers Education program, as well as various fundraisers including Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program. (Lilliston donates $25 for every test drive taken during the program dates.) The dealership raised over $2,200 for McIntosh Schools during the past two years through this unique fundraising event.
Community contributions are not the end of Lilliston’s involvement in Darien. She oversees a business that is one of the top three revenue-producing businesses in McIntosh County, which has 12 service bays, one of which can accommodate RVs, offers Fleet Services and sells numerous F-150 Ford trucks and Escapes along with a list of Ford and Mercury vehicles.
Prior to moving with her young family to southeast Georgia in 2000, she directed a volunteer program with over 300 volunteers for the State of New Jersey’s Department of Human Services. Lilliston received a Certified Public Managers Certificate from Rutgers University, and majored in business administration at West Liberty State College.
Jedon Marie Lilliston is a great mentor for young women wanting to enter a career after school. In 1988, while 13 weeks pregnant and in Cancun, Jedon rode out Hurricane Gilbert in a vacant vocational school building due to a forced evacuation from her accommodations. Lilliston’s Bucket List is short, learn to kayak, attain a scuba certificate, hike Pikes Peak and dive for lobster in the keys. Two of those items will be marked off her bucket list this summer – her vacation plans include a visit to Colorado and a quick trip to the keys.
